We coach parents on how to role model the healthful habits they want to see in their children and how to play a supportive role in shaping healthy eating habits at home

v  We empower kids and teens to take care of their health and accomplish this by using positive food messaging, motivational techniques, and user-friendly nutrition education

v  Our programs and meal plans are not pre-packaged but customized based on the challenges and life situations

We Love what we do and we do what we love!

Spring has sprung, and there is nothing more enjoyable than spending time outdoors.  It’s a perfect opportunity to begin that exercise routine or add a little more activity to your current routine.

We know that exercise is important for our health.  Not only does it build muscle, burn calories, and help stabilize insulin levels, it also improves mood and helps us sleep.  And did you know that kids need at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day?

Here are some ideas to get you and your family moving outdoors….

  • Walk your dog or the neighbor’s dog.
  • Visit trails or greenways that provide a nice, safe environment. Kids can bike or skate while parents walk or jog.
  • Walk laps around the fields while your child is at sports practice.
  • Visit a weekend festival that includes active events

We might still have some chilly or rainy days this spring, or maybe your allergies are too bad to be outside, so here are some tips to help you get moving indoors...

  • Almost all video game systems (Wii, PlayStation, XBox 360 Kinect) have active games. Try one.
  • Crank up the music and dance.
  • Try a workout DVD – there’s yoga, dance, aerobics, kickboxing – lots of options.
  • Visit a roller-skating rink, bowling alley or basketball court.
  • Spring clean! Seriously. Sweeping, vacuuming, scrubbing the tub – they all use energy. It might not be the most fun, but with some music and the whole family involved, it’s not so bad.
  • And if you’re watching t.v., take an activity break during commercials. Try doing jumping jacks, sit-ups or push-ups.

And remember, the most important thing is to keep it safe and fun!  Happy Spring!
